Today, OzHomeNews presents one of the very special and long-awaited Sydney episodes, where we get to witness an incredible development in full swing AND meet the brains behind the project!
Futureflip is one of the most influential boutique design and construction companies in New South Wales, and today we are going to hear the story behind their incredible success.
Anna had the pleasure of meeting the man behind the brand, Neil Hipwell – a school drop-out at the age of 14 and now the Founding Director of a thriving business that he has managed to build from a scratch in just thirteen years!
Neil showed Anna around Futureflip’s new and exciting development at 11 Hardy Street, North Bondi, so join these guys on the video tour and see what’s the latest with the project!
As Neil started from the bottom, so do we – lower ground floor, that is. Down there, you can find the entertainment level, with a kitchen, butler’s pantry, fireplace and TV, opening up to the alfresco deck and pool area.
“We wanted to maximise the block of land that we’re working with,” says Neil.
“We had to really work hard to squeeze as much in as we could!”
And they sure have done that well, with everything you would wish for included in the entertainment quarters, still making the entire level feel open and airy.
One big element further boosting the spacious sensation is the abundance of light – check out the video to see the tricks these design geniuses have used in order to bring in the natural light whilst being halfway underground!
The more you see, the more the incredible design just keeps on giving. Check out the absolute showstopper of a bathroom with its dreamy tiles – quite literally! Press play to hear who ended up sleeping with the tiles!
“Our client is pretty into her interior design,” revealed Neil.
“She was just so excited about this build, and to be able to get to throw all her creative flair with mine and my architects and everyone together, it’s a pretty cool journey!”
On the highest floor, you can find a gem of a New York loft-inspired bedroom, which turned out to be so good that the client decided to use that as a master bedroom instead! Have a look at the video and see the beautiful design of this extra level!
Being a young and innovative company, Futureflip wants to bring new and inspiring spirit into the industry, and not only in the form of design, but also changing the traditional ways of conducting business.
“A lot of our clients come through social media,” explains Neil.
“The social media has really helped, because there’s no point being a great builder of designer and not being able to show anyone!”
Neil himself has played a big part in the design aspects throughout Futureflip’s history, but during these years, he has built an amazing team of professionals around him to help bring his vision to life.
“I set up a whole design division and I employ my own architects,” says Neil. “It’s cool because we basically come together and collaborate – there’s no blaming people for mistakes and things like that, we’re all one team!” he explains.
