A marvellous estate which was purchased back in 1964 for $36,000, (yes you read that correctly), has been sold for $8,500,000, after being on the market for under two weeks.
‘Trenayr’, at 28 Nelson Street, Gordon, is a grand c1917 residence rich in heritage and, after being the subject of strong interest from numerous buyers, was purchased by a family from the North Shore.
McGrath listing agent, Glenn Curran, helped negotiate the sale and said that the five-bedroom property is one of the last of its kind in the area.
“It is one of the largest remaining unmodified homes in Gordon,” he said.
“Occupying 3,500sqm, it has a north rear position on Gordon’s best street,” Mr Curran said.
The tightly held home had been the vendor’s family home since purchasing it over half a century ago.
“The vendor is ecstatic,” said Mr Curran.
“After living there for 55 years, it is time for him to get something a bit smaller and less to look after,” he said.
The spectacular property features a tennis court and pool nestled amongst beautifully landscaped gardens. It is, therefore, no wonder the home was snapped up so swiftly, as Mr Curran explained that Sydney’s Upper North Shore market is performing well.
“There was strong interest in the property, with multiple buyers competing for it, and it sold within two weeks,” he said.
“We have seen very positive buyer activity across all price points, from $2-10 million,” said Mr Curran.
“Buyers are out there and they are seeking property assets, they’re not earning money on cash in the banks so they are looking to park it in property real estate.”
