Come with us on a walk through a unique tiny-house-style hideaway in the serene hinterland of Mullumbimby…
“Welcome back, I’m your host Natasha from OzHomeNews, and today we’re in northern New South Wales just 5 minutes from Mullumbimby, in search of a vintage 30-foot yacht.
“She’s retired from her ocean voyages and has been given a new lease on life as a tiny Airbnb house. Let’s go see if we can find her.
“Aha! Belafonte 11. Look, there she is.
“Docked on a private three-acre property under this huge bamboo grove. Isn’t she beautiful?
“Lovely wooden steps leading you to an extended deck where you can smell the leaves and the freshness after it rains. And these beautiful handcrafted French doors are waiting to let you in.
“Oooh, she’s dreamy. Black and white chequered floors – what a stylish touch. The red couch. You just want to sit down and has a way of making you want to sit down and read a book in her presence.
“Now, nice and close by, you’ve got the kitchen and sitting area over here, with cute personal touches like the chessboard.
“I can see all the basics: microwave, a gas stove, fridge and a coffee machine, and the owners have thought of everything – fresh bread, eggs and butter – how special.
“In the bow of the boat, you can wake up to the sunlight shining through the hatch skylight. It’s cute and and comfy, there’s room for two, and there’s plenty of power sockets to keep everything charged.
“She opens up to another deck where you find your humble dunny. An eco-friendly composting toilet and shower under a corrugated iron hut. It’s nice to get out of your comfort zone, especially when you’re being kinder to the environment.
“Now, this calls for tea and cake time – a deck with your own private courtyard. Look at this – all yours to enjoy.
“And there’s one time of the year, the garden twinkles at night. From late August to September, it’s firefly season, so you can watch the magical little creatures dance among the bamboo – sounds absolutely delightful.
“A childhood dream come true.”
