A massive weekend for Sydney’s Lower North Shore led to over $13.5 million in sales from just one office alone, with a suburb record smashed in the process.
Brent Courtney, of McGrath, helped negotiate the three sales that took place in just 24 hours in Riverview and Longueville over the weekend and said: “We’re finding the market really strong at the moment and I don’t see any reason why it can’t continue.”
The property at 31 Pengilly Street sold for $5.325 million at auction to buyers upgrading from neighbouring Lane Cove – setting a suburb record for Riverview.
“It is the first property that has been sold in Riverview for over $5 million, the vendors are absolutely wrapped,” said Mr Courtney.
Nearby, in Longueville, 19 Woodford Street was sold at auction in another $5 million plus transaction, whilst 48 William Edward Street was sold prior to auction for over $3 million.
Mr Courtney said that a lack of stock combined with the demand for high quality homes that require little or no work has led to a blossoming market on the Lower North Shore.
“The Lower North Shore is always a good market but there is a heap of people who want a totally renovated, move in and unpack your bags family home,” he explained.
“With the cost building a new home and the length of time it takes, people don’t want to do the extension, renovation or rebuild, they will pay a premium for something already finished.
“Move in, unpack your bags and pop the champagne!”
