A brand-new home in Sydney’s Inner West sold for $4,150,000 at auction over the long weekend – a staggering $850,000 over the reserve price.
The five-bedroom custom-designed property, at 23 Cross Street, was snapped up by a buyer from Cabramatta at a fiercely contested auction, leaving the vendors over the moon.
Belle Property listing agent, Norman So, said: “After a slow start, the auction moved at an exceptional speed.”
Around 150 people were in attendance to witness the action unfold, with 11 registered bidders on the day ready to battle it out for the cracker of a property.
“The bidding started at $2.8 million with the successful buyer making the first bid. They fought all the way to the end to make sure that they secured the property,” said Mr So.
With bids as large as $100,000 being made, the sought-after home eventually went to a medical professional from Cabramatta who was looking to upgrade to the Strathfield area.
“They weren’t mucking around, they were there to win it on the day,” said Mr So.
The home’s unique floorplan and vast proportions are what really attracted buyers, with a stunning double height void making this property truly stand out from the crowd in terms of what is currently available in this pocket of Strathfield.
“The credit must go to the amazing custom-built home. The builder took a leap of faith and went all out with the finishes and it certainly paid off,” said Mr So.
To get a feel for just how big this sale was, a property on the same 463sqm sized block, four houses down the street sold for $1,650,000.
“The vendors had tears of joy afterwards, they were left speechless,” Mr So.
