One of the last remaining beachfront cottages on the Gold Coast is gearing up to make auction history later this month as it’s set to change hands for the first time in 50 years!
Located directly upon the golden sands of Main Beach, the three-bedroom abode has been tightly held by the Stavrou family since 1971, though the idyllic home is ready for an exciting new chapter.
Mr and Mrs Stavrou have many incredible memories of their family home over the years, perhaps none more romantic than the moment they first set their eyes upon the house of their dreams.
“We were in love the moment we saw it. As soon as we saw it standing alone on the beach, we knew it had to be ours,” Mrs Stavrou explains.
“We placed a note under the door hoping to pique the owner’s interest, and sure enough, we finally made the cottage our weekend home in March of 1971.
“As soon as we walked through the front door the very next day and saw the ocean, we knew we’d found a gem. For 50 years, it’s been a piece of paradise for our family.”
Mrs Stavrou hopes that the new owners can also go on to build fond memories of their own in their unique slice of beachfront paradise.
“Our grandchildren were able to enjoy the house too, so the place is very sentimental to us. We’ve built so many memories there that it’s become a piece of all of us,” she says.
Robert Graham. of Ray White Surfers Paradise. is overseeing the sales campaign for the 402sqm property, and with a similar offering transacting for $7.3 million in October he has high hopes for the auction, especially in the current climate of the Main Beach market.
“It’s a single block and one of the last cottages on the beachfront, so it’s a rare opportunity,” he says.
“At the moment there’s not much availability of stock – there’s a huge buyer demand both locally and from Brisbane and interstate. Things do not last very long in Main Beach; I think it’s one of the best performing markets on the Gold Coast right now.”
