Melbourne pad sold for $6.4m at auction
An elegant five-bedroom property in one of Melbourne’s most sought-after locations went under the hammer over the weekend smashing its reserve price by $300,000.
The timeless property at 21 Thomas Street in Kew was snapped up for $6.4 million after four families competed for the keys to this special home.
Set on a spacious 1,314 sqm tennis court block, the Sackville Ward home is primed to take advantage of some of Melbourne’s best schools which is just one of many reasons why interest was so high.
Ray Whites’ team of Helen Yan and Dennis Zhong marketed the property throughout its successful auction campaign which came to a head on Saturday afternoon.
“Thomas St was an amazing auction,” Helen says.
“The reserve was $6.1 million and it sold for $6.4 million, so $300,000 over as we had four registered bidders.
“There were three local Chinese families and one Australian family,” she explains.
The vendor, who is a lover of art, was left delighted by the end result and was impressed with the agents work during the sales process.
Located amongst Kew’s elite school precinct the double brick home also boasts magnificent city skyline views, a clay tennis court and a wonderful light filled sun room.
