Hard work pays off as wonderfully presented home sells post-auction
A grand Sydney home that backs onto Centennial Parklands has been secured in a post-auction deal after blood, sweat and tears went into the successful sales campaign.
The remarkable Edwardian-style home was snapped up by a local Sydney buyer on Monday after it had passed in at auction the week before.
The six-bedroom property at 52 Lang Road was the subject of intense interest, which resulted in four different buyers placing 10 bids on the stately home at a hotly contested auction.
Despite the highest bid coming in at $11.7 million, the property passed in as it didn’t meet the $12 million reserve and was eventually sold to a buyer who didn’t even attend the auction.
McGrath’s Benjamin Goodwin told OzHomeNews about the successful efforts of his team and about the landmark property, though remained tight-lipped on the final sale price.

“We went all out! We were up on the roof, cleaning the pool and landscaping the gardens, so it’s really nice to see that our hard work paid off and we got a really good result for our vendor,” Mr Goodwin explains.
The property sits on a 1,506sqm parcel and features a magnificent resort-style outside entertaining area complete with a championship size tennis court.
“The property is the second largest land holding on that street and my buyer knew it was a once-in-a-lifetime opportunity,” Mr Goodwin says.
“The buyer loved Lang Road, she just felt that the leafy appeal of the street was beautiful and it had always been on her radar.
“They didn’t take part in the auction and had never seen the property until Friday and had bought on Monday,” he says.
Mr Goodwin went on to say that more buyers are making bold decisions when purchasing homes since the pandemic struck.
“I’ve had one of the highest success rates with selling off-market stock in my career during the COVID period because a home has never been so important to so many people,” he explains.
“People now use their homes as their office, their entertaining space, their living space, its absolutely everything to us now because of COVID.”
