Farrer auction sets suburb record

A five-bedroom Farrer home has set a suburb record at auction when it sold for $2.21 million at the beginning of March.
The 1,496sqm property at 125 Hawkesbury Crescent, ten minutes south of Canberra, smashed the previous suburb sale price by $110,000.
The house had recently undergone a thorough renovation, including a brand new kitchen, fresh gardens and double-glazed windows.
Blackshaw Manuka agent Mario Sanfrancesco says the auction was hotly contested.
“We had half a dozen registered bidders with a couple of them staying through to the end battling it out,” Mario says.
“The area is very desirable and properties backing onto the reserve like this one rarely come up on the market.
“We had approximately 175 groups through the property, it was extremely popular.”
The ground floor of the home hosts a three car garage, cellar, and a separate living space. On the upper floor, spacious family and dining rooms have fantastic views of the nearby Farrer Ridge Nature Reserve, with doors opening out to the al fresco entertaining area.

The brand new kitchen at the rear of the house provides a great informal dining option. A central breakfast bar is perfect for food on the go, and the surrounding stone benchtops are perfectly illuminated by under-counter lighting.

At the end of the day, retire to one of the four upstairs bedrooms – although the master bedroom enjoys the best features, like a walk-in robe and private en suite!
Letting out onto a tiled, in-ground pool, the back yard also enjoys a covered observation deck and private gate access to walking tracks in the nature reserve.
Civilisation is close at hand too – the residence is just a short walk to the local shops, with easy access to Southlands and the Woden Plaza.

“It’s a very tranquil spot close to several well regarded schools,” Mario says.
“The area is very popular with growing families, and I’d describe this home in particular as a generational spot for families to grow.”
