Critical Homes to Be Built in the Northern Territory

A new residential subdivision deep within the remote Utopia homelands will allow for the construction of ten new vital homes.

As part of the Homelands Program, the Northern Territory Government has released a tender for the construction of roads, stormwater drainage, allotment grading and services at Arlparra, 381 kilometres south-east of Tennant Creek.

Minister for Remote Housing and Town Camps, Chansey Paech, said: “The Territory Labor Government made a commitment to take a new approach to improving living conditions on homelands.”

“Land servicing is critical for delivering new homes and this subdivision will support the construction of more homes at Arlparra,” he said.

The tender closes on 8 October and is set to be awarded on 29 October.

Construction work is scheduled to be completed by 15 April 2021 and Mr Paech said that the project will greatly benefit those in the homelands.

Works will also support employment and training opportunities for locals towards creating skilled workers in civil construction.
