The Byron estate that hosted the wedding of Margot Robbie has sold for $14 million.
Situated just 20 minutes from Byron Bay, the 140-year-old estate was snapped up by Australian fitness guru Lorna Jane in a private sale less than one month after the property was first listed.
Lorna Jane will be the latest in a string of well-known personalities to make an appearance at 895 Coolamon Scenic Drive, Coorabell, but the first to live there.
The 57-acre property, which featured in an OzHome News Luxury Walkthrough before it sold, has been extremely popular as a wedding venue thanks to its beautiful grounds and timeless buildings. Hollywood A-lister Margot Robbie married Tom Ackerley on the grounds in 2016, and a few years earlier it was the wedding venue for friends of the Duke and Duchess of Sussex; actors Gabriel Macht and Jacinda Barrett.
The 140-year-old estate has been beautifully renovated and restored, while preserving the essence of its timeless charm. Contrasting textures and colours bring light and life into the opulent primary residence, which retains its 14-foot metal pressed ceilings, white cedar walls and blackbutt timber floors.
Wrap-around verandahs provide the perfect setting for a lazy afternoon, overlooking the ancient fig-trees, English gardens, and a barn that needs to be seen to be believed.
Everything in this 345sqm residence is made of the highest quality, like the Italian tiles in the modern kitchen, or the wolf oven, complete with infrared Teppanyaki plates. You’ll find the same attention to detail in the three bedrooms. Interiors fuse with nature for a peaceful atmosphere, and on a rainy day open the bay window seat for a hidden surprise!
From the chandelier to the handmade Morrocan tiles, the bathrooms are absolutely stunning. Take the master bedroom en suite, where you’ll find a room entirely dedicated to a shower, and side doors leading out to an outdoor tub.
Up from the main house, a stylish dairy-turned-guest-retreat comes with its own bedroom, kitchen and living room. Warm, cozy and beautifully furnished, it’s perfect for friends and family to come and visit.
Behind the main homestead is one of the property’s most striking features; a three-level American-style barn. 12-metre high ceilings provide space for nearly anything you can imagine, and sculpted stairs provide easy access to the mezzanine level where a wood stove and balcony create a welcoming atmosphere.
If you’re looking for a picturesque pool the bar is high and getting higher. A flight of stone stairs leads from the house down to a stunning, European-style pool area, with views to match.
Many of these amenities can be attributed to the previous owner, who purchased the property for ‘just’ $6.2 million in 2018, according to CoreLogic. Substantial improvements since then saw the property’s value more than double, but the $14 million paid by Lorna Jane is still less than the $15 – $16.5 million the owners were reportedly hoping for.
