One of Victoria’s premier conference venues has been listed for sale after its owners eye up retirement.
The CountryPlace Conference and Function Centre situated in the Dandenong Ranges is made up of 62 ensuited accommodation rooms and has been made available via an expressions of interest campaign closing March 18.
It has built a strong reputation over the years as one of the region’s leading events venues and has won the Victorian Tourism Award five times.
Price expectations are thought to be around the $7-$8 million mark, with its current owners looking to wind down having run the business for the past 30 years.
CBRE Hotels’ Senior Director Scott Callows is steering the sales campaign for the landmark property and says that it is sure to attract investor interest from far and wide.
“These types of properties are rarely offered to the market, with few developments like this having been undertaken in recent times,” he says.
The sale of Mount Dandenong site was initially planned for last year but COVID lockdowns put an end to that, paving the way for a fresh marketing campaign for the property that is located within a one-hour drive from Melbourne’s CBD.
“The long-established CountryPlace business is incredibly well balanced and benefits from loyal clientele, attracting a broad mix of conference, weddings, universities and education programs, wellness, religious and hobby groups,” Scott explains.
Since pioneers Isaac Jeeves and his wife Ann built the area’s first house back in 1860 the site has been transformed, with a three-wing main complex, a two-bedroom cottage, a 100-seater restaurant, gym and outdoor pool all being built to make up the magnificent venue.
The property’s stunning Yarra valley views, impressive facilities and positioning on a 5.078-hectare block of largely undeveloped land make it an incredible opportunity for investors from a variety of sectors.
