Today’s ON THE SPOT with Emil Juresic we have Australia’s number one real estate agent, Josh Tesolin, who has proven that if you are ready to work hard and never give up, it is possible to become the best in your industry in a flash.
25-year-old Josh has only been selling houses for three years, but has been the best agent in the country for two years in a row already. And of course, we wanted to find out the secret recipe!
Emil sat down with the man himself and got to hear exactly how Josh has managed to achieve all of this in such a short period of time.

Entering With a Bang
Josh entered the property market with quite a bang, selling 71 homes within the first year of being an agent. That year, he made $1,170,000 in commission, and has only been improving ever since, making $2,030,000 in his second year.
The most incredible results in numbers, however, are from the past six months, when 99 houses changed hands thanks to this genius agent, including more than 50 houses during the COVID lockdown period in Sydney.
He also made a whopping $2,040,000 in the first six months of 2020.
No Time to Stay Still
Of course – the road to success has not been easy, and Josh works tirelessly every single day in order to achieve his incredible results.
“Big workloads, seven days a week, 16-17-hour days,” he describes.
Josh doesn’t think there is one big secret to success, and he is a big believer of hard work paying off. And in his case, it is definitely proving to be true!
“I don’t think there’s one thing that I do that’s different to anyone else – I think real estate is a basic game, I think we can all do it,” he says.
Consistency is key
“When I first started, and not a lot of people know this, I went to probably 30 appraisals, and lost all 30,” Josh says.
But instead of quitting, he decided that he could learn from his mistakes and get better and better.
“Consistency day in, day out, and that’s what gets results!”
Brand that gets noticed
According to Josh, in order to succeed, making yourself and your brand known is one of the most important things there is, and you have to keep pushing every single day.
From social media to letterbox drops, to directly calling prospective buyers – Josh does ‘everything and all’ in terms of marketing in order to make sure everyone knows his name.
“I say to everybody in my area: if you haven’t seen my marketing, you’re living under a rock!”
Energy game
Josh says that he happily works seven days a week and even moved closer to his office, just to put in more hours. And that is all because of his passion towards real estate.
“For me it’s an energy game,” says Josh.
“I’ve always been energetic in anything that I put my mind to. When I enjoy something, I’m extremely passionate,” he explains.
“I love what I do, I want to get to another level, I want to do things to inspire other people, I think it becomes more than just money and more than just numbers,” Josh explains.
Sharing is caring
During his career, Josh has learned that sharing his knowledge is not hindering his success in any way, and he is more than happy to give valuable tips even to his competitors.
“A lot of people helped me when I started,” he says.
“I think that in this world, life is too short to not see everyone succeed. At the end of the day, there’s enough to go around – everyone can be successful!” Josh explains.
Proof Is in the Pudding
Instead of bragging with a lifetime of experience, Josh has something even better to show – a long list (546 to be exact) of delighted clients, who are more than happy to recommend his expertise.
“Talking is one thing, but having the evidence and backing it up and showing the people is another thing,” Josh explains.
“I’m not just selling these properties, I’ve genuinely got happy customers!”
Confidence Comes With Results
Josh says that people often might mix confidence and arrogance, but confidence is something you require to get results, and he is not afraid to tell people that he is the number one agent in Australia.
“I’ve earned it. I’ve got the numbers, my name is on the trophy, I back it up every single day,” says Josh.
“I think number one is more than just the title – it’s how you act, it’s how you inspire people, it’s how you continue to get better,” he explains.
But confidence isn’t something that just happens by itself, it comes with the results you bring to the table.
“I know what to do, I’ve done it before, and I’ve done it in tough markets,” Josh explains.
New beginnings
Exciting times lay ahead, as Josh is about to open his very own office – a family business with his mother, girlfriend and his trusted assistant Alex.
“I’ve always wanted to do my own thing, to have my own culture, run my own race, have the responsibility and to be able to build a team in front of me,” explains Josh.
Within the next five years, Josh wants to open a couple more offices, and for this year, the goal is set for making $4,000,000 in gross commission and (of course) to bring home the coveted trophy this year as well!
I’m absolutely going for it. I don’t want to just be a one hit wonder or a two hit wonder!
