Agent of the Week: Josh Longhitano

Meet this week’s Agent of the Week, Josh Longhitano! After learning the ropes from some of the best in the business during his six years in real estate, Josh recently decided the time was right to take the plunge and launch Lucent Property Agents.

Tell us about how you started out in the industry

“I used to be a flight attendant and a soccer player so I was always overseas. But I realised that as good as it was to see all these places around the world, I didn’t see a long future in the lifestyle it gave me.

“I ticked off so many places from my bucket list but it was time now to plan out my future and start getting serious about laying some serious foundations down.

“So, when I returned from overseas, I went into medical sales initially, which was really fulfilling, but I was spending so much time travelling to work that I didn’t see a future with it.

“My best friend Nick Lapenna had joined the real estate industry and everyone always says you should give it a crack, so I did!”

What did you really want to be when you were growing up?

“I always wanted to be a football player when I was younger.

“The more I spent time overseas seeing the lifestyle and the number of players that really make it to the big leagues made me question my decision.

“The one thing that was great about my soccer career was that it taught me about the discipline and determination needed to reach your goals.

“It also taught me about listening to coaches so that they can guide you in the right direction which I transitioned into real estate.”

Any mentors or inspirational figures along the way?

“Michael Kollosche and Eddie Wardale have definitely had the biggest impact on my career, I think they are the best in the industry – they’ve been my two main mentors.

“They both have a different approach to real estate but they are at the pinnacle of the prestige market on the gold coast.”

Any large sales or big moments in your career that stand out?

“My standout achievements would have to been the highest land sale in Paradise Waters for $9.4 million which sold and settled last year, and also the sale of 327 Monaco street for $5.7 million last year.”

What do you get up to in your downtime?

“I gave up soccer a long, long time ago and I haven’t touched a ball since I quit!

“At the moment I enjoy getting up early and going for a swim, a surf or a bodyboard session with a few mates. I also like early walks along the beach or a yoga session too, but I’m not home from work until 8pm or 9pm so by the time I’m home I go straight to sleep and pretty much rinse and repeat six days a week!”

What’s your favourite thing about working in this industry?

“I love hearing the success stories of my clients, both vendors and buyers, and seeing how they have navigated through their lives and hearing about their extraordinary accomplishments.

“It’s an honour to now call some of them close friends.

“Hearing about how people that I’ve connected with have absolutely crushed it in life is really inspiring to me!”

And your least favourite?

“All my mates think that all we do is go out for coffees and smashed avocado!

“People don’t actually understand what happens behind the scenes because everything has been glorified to the absolute max.”

What advice would you give to yourself if you were starting out?

“Play the long game and put in the work, some agents like the play the short game and celebrate their wins on a full-time basis and forget what has put them there which is the hard work, not the lifestyle.”

Where would you like to think you’ll be in 10 years’ time?

“I’d love to move into the development space later on in my career.

“I have good mates in the field and would love to collaborate with them and utilize both our expertise by them doing the building and development and myself doing the marketing and sales.”
