Queensland’s far north may be the next region to see a property boom, following the sale of a $2.95 million property in Cairns.
The 1,100sqm offering at 115-117 Harbour Drive, Trinity Park, was the most expensive sale yet in the 130 lot development, with more to come, according to FNQ Hot Property agent Nathan Shingles.
“Extravagance is the first word I think of,” Nathan says. “The home has so many architectural elements that are cutting edge, and state-of-the-art integrated technology.”
The progressive property certainly contributed to the price tag, but the land is equally special.
“It’s situated on the smallest canal estate in Austalia with direct deep water access to the Great Barrier Reef,” Nathan explains. “You can be out on the Reef in about 40 minutes directly from the house.”
The five-bedroom home enjoys 26 metres of water frontage with a pontoon, plus its own 20-meter saltwater swimming pool. The bulk of the property is arranged in a ‘U’ shape around the pool, with two garages jutting off to the south.
On the ground floor, open plan living combines the best elements of outside and inside, thanks to fold-away glass doors. A partially covered terrace with an integrated outdoor kitchen looks out over the water, with even more cooking options inside.
High-end fittings and appliances are framed by thick stone benchtops, while the glass splashback can only be called quirky! There’s heaps of room for a dining table in here, but the standout feature is the large sunken lounge. There’s no limit to the size of flatscreen you could mount, with plenty of space leftover for sprawling couches.
The other wing of the property houses the guest suite, and every fitness fan’s favourite – a home gym. Heading across the linking corridor takes you to a flight of stairs, and up to the family quarters. Glass banisters line a large void overlooking the ground floor, with space set aside for a welcoming foyer and a family retreat amongst the three bedrooms.
There’s no guessing which room houses the master suite – luxe fittings and oodles of space take care of that! Push back the private balcony’s concertina glass doors to let the breeze come in from across the water, and relax in the dark-tiled en suite with freestanding bath.
For finishing touches, how about some professionally landscaped tropical gardens, or a fish pond by the entrance?
“The property attracted local and interstate attention, even some enquiries from overseas, from Aussie ex-pats looking to come home,” Nathan says.
“It was eventually bought by a couple looking for a seachange, but this is just the tip of the iceberg,” he says. “There’s been a fairly even market for many years but now there are more and more buyers, and less and less property, especially at the higher end of the market.
“People are scrambling because they don’t want to miss out on the opportunity to buy that high-end property up here.”
