A new campaign aimed at boosting Queensland’s tourism industry by $1 billion has been launched.
‘Queensland – You’re Good to Go’, is the name of the tourism campaign released yesterday which encourages Queenslanders to “go and explore their own state.”
Premier Annastacia Palaszczuk said: “Because Queenslanders have done such a great job flattening the curve, we were able to open up intrastate travel two weeks earlier.
We live in one of the most beautiful places in the world. Now’s the time to get out and about and experience it.Premier Annastacia Palaszczuk
The campaign is expected to deliver $1 billion in overnight accommodation takings over the next four months and support one of the hardest hit industries following on from the outbreak of coronavirus.
“One in 10 Queenslanders rely on our tourism industry for a living. This campaign will help us to safeguard more than 230,000 jobs.”
“Tourism and Events Queensland expects Queenslanders could spend over 9 million nights enjoying what the state has to offer, which would produce a $1 billion in overnight expenditure for tourism operators,” Premier Palaszczuk.
“Every year, 3.2 million Queenslanders spend nearly $10 billion holidaying interstate and overseas. This campaign will help us to tap into that market to support our tourism operators,” Ms Palaszczuk said.
