Plans to redevelop Merewether Golf Club which includes 148 senior living units and a new clubhouse have been approved.

The Newcastle club will also be making improvements to its beautiful tree lined course as part of the $120 million project, which was recently approved by regional planning panel.

The new senior living precinct is set to be built within the course between Adamstown and Merewether with construction hoped to create 1000 jobs and potentially 100 ongoing jobs upon completion.

Development plans were announced in 2016, with a 99-year lease of the land to Thirdi Group, which will work closely with the club to finalise its development application ahead of lodging to the Newcastle City Council later this year.

Merewether Golf Club is located two hours north of Sydney and is ideal for casual or competition golf, it also offers wedding & reception event space as well as conference packages.
